Job Description:

This National Guard position is for a TRAINING TECHNICIAN, PD# NGD1180000 and is part of the 881st Troop Command, Sturgis, SD. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position. AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Title 32 Dual Status Technicians (DST): permanent employees (tenure group 1, 2 or 3) of the South Dakota Army National Guard Title 5 National Guard Employees (NGE): permanent employees (tenure group 1, 2 or 3) with military membership in the South Dakota Army National Guard
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Officers: 2LT to CPT are eligible to apply. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. Experiences, education, or training that demonstrated the ability to follow directions, read, understand, and retain instructions, regulations, and procedures that otherwise demonstrates the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience equivalent to the GS-07. Experiences that demonstrated the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (Competencies/KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of Army or Air Force education and training programs regarding their principles and procedures. Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experience in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. KSAs: -Knowledge of training and operations functions to direct and conduct subordinate unit inspections and assistance visits and evaluate the results. -Skill to develop and prepare annual operational and training budget requirements. -Knowledge of training requirements, physical security, and safety programs sufficient to manage assistance visits, inspections, and external evaluations of subordinate units and ensure policy implementation. -Skill to communicate through both oral and written communications sufficient to communicate ideas and guidance utilizing presentations, briefings, and correspondence.
As a TRAINING TECHNICIAN, GS-1702-09, you will: This position is located in a Battalion (Bn) or Squadron (Sqdrn) size headquarters of the ARNG. The purpose of the position is to develop training and safety plans and procedures for the command. Provides staff planning and assistance to ensure that required training, safety and readiness objectives are achieved and mobilization planning requirements are accomplished. Training activities at this level are concerned with the training of military personnel in a wide variety of occupations including clerical, trades and labor, administrative, technical, and/or professional skills.
