About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Director of Nursing Psychiatric Unit, at the Madigan Army Medical Center located in Tacoma, Washington. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing nursing care to patients with a variety of health problems; and/or monitoring and reporting patient behavior. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Nursing. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Manage equipment inventory, ensure ward/unit equipment is in proper working order.
Take and record vital signs; collect and deliver specimens; assist with physical examinations and glucose monitoring; assist with administering psychological tests.
Process patients for outpatient appointments or admission, searching belongings for contraband weapons, drugs, or alcohol.
Manage patients returning from electrical convulsive therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or other procedures.
Conduct clinic or ward inspections for incoming shifts; maintains safety measures.
Provide addiction education to assist patients in gaining a better understanding and acceptance of the addictive disease process.
