Job Description:

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Eastern Region in Cherokee, North Carolina, Hollywood, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, and Philadelphia, Mississippi to assist in the administration, direction, and oversight of social work administration and casework in all areas of delivery of human services to clients.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0185: Social Work Series). BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR ALL GRADES: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the MASTER'S DEGREE in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement, applicants must have the following: GS-12: Qualifying is one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes work involving applying practical knowledge in a wide range of social services casework, family therapy, community organization; direct provision of child welfare services; maintaining active agency participation in advocacy and intervention programs and the coordination of and required cooperation with allied social service, health and other agencies; providing counseling services; maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of services with individual case plans; providing technical assistance on all aspects of social services programs and activities; assisting in developing budgets; assisting IIM account holders in the utilization of funds. TELEWORK: The duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Administers a comprehensive social services program designed to meet the needs of individuals, families and groups at each of the (34) Tribes under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Region.

Serves as the designated Awarding Official Technical Representative (AOTR).
Provide technical assistance to Tribes in development of Indian Child Welfare grants.
Administers the Individual Indian Money (IIM) program by providing direct client services and case management services to account holders.
Conduct on the job training to new employees on the Housing Improvement Program in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Collect, review and consolidate eligible housing application data into a Tribal work plan.
