Job Description:

As the DC for Thrift Supervision and Specialty Supervision in MCBS, you will serve as the key advisor to the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Midsize and Community Bank Supervision and the Comptroller on the Novel Bank Supervision, Special Supervision, Technology Service Provider Supervision, and Thrift Supervision programs. Washington, DC is the preferred location; however, this position may be filled in an alternative location.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-VII band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Managing and leading a bank supervision program or process; AND Identifying, evaluating and resolving complex problems or issues having OCC wide impact on bank supervision; AND Leading, developing and staffing a department. AND Selective factor: You must also possess a National Bank Examiner (NBE) commission reflecting that you are authorized to sign Reports of Examinations (ROEs) for national banks and federal savings associations. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. As the Deputy Comptroller for Thrift Supervision and Specialty Supervision, you will: Advise on regulations, policy, guidance, and examination programs pertaining to the federal savings association industry. Provide executive direction to the OCC's problem bank program. Set goals and priorities that ensure early and effective supervisory intervention of problem banks. Provide advice and support for problem banks. Develop systems and reports that monitor the status of all banks in the OCC's problem bank program and highlights high-risk problem banks and those that become stalled in problem bank status. Oversee the supervision of a portfolio of novel banks. Oversee the supervision of a portfolio of technology service providers. Serve as chair of the Washington Supervision Review Committee and may participate directly or through staff in other Supervisory Review Committees. Outline strategies, advance legal theories, and provide guidance and direction for problem bank remediation and resolution activities. Assist various lines of business in integrating thrifts into supervision portfolios and ensuring the effectiveness and consistency of the supervision of federal savings associations. Provide briefings on significant matters relating to thrift supervision, problem bank supervision, novel bank supervision, and TSP supervision and respond to requests and recommendations. Plan and schedule work; assign work to employees; assure that production, accuracy, quality, and service level requirements are met; prepare performance plans and evaluations; approve leave and training; and effect minor disciplinary measures.
