This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the execution of maintenance, repairs, improvements, quality control and safety including health and environmental safety for all campus buildings.

As a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, WS-4749-9, your typical work assignments will include the following: Supervise and train subordinate workers in various trades and crafts equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group. Plan on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers including evaluating, training and assigning work in various phases associated with the construction, repair, maintenance, and renovation of buildings and related structures, grounds, fixtures and utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices. Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for the college campus, anticipating maintenance and repair needs far enough in advance to procure supplies to assure orderly workflow. Recommend performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, approves/denies leaves, and recommends employees for promotions and reassignments. Ensure education in, compliance with, and practice of safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and environmental issues in all work areas. Facilitate, implement, and administer construction and service contracts as contracting officer representative for all campus buildings and equipment as assigned.
