Job Description:

The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for National Capital Parks-East is June-December but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: End of May Open to the first 75 applicants or until 04/30/2025 whichever comes first. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Operation of Motor Vehicles. Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order). Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation). Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles). Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle). The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following: Operate motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, specialty pumping equipment and trash. Drive vehicles over public roads at highway speeds to transport passengers, supplies, materials or equipment and tools or to tow equipment throughout rural and urban areas. Operate vehicles over rough terrain, in close quarters and in heavy traffic on both long and short hauls. Perform routine preventative maintenance such as checking and adding fluids to bring to proper levels, checking air pressure and adding when required. Perform semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance, repair and janitorial work in and on various unit buildings.
