About the Position: This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center's Psychology Services in El Paso, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation HIGHLY PREFERRED: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Psychologist from a State, the District of Columbia, or United States territory.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Counseling Psychologist: Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing comprehensive psychosocial evaluations to patients, developing or implementing treatment plans, and providing individual or group professional counseling/therapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Conduct evaluations of Soldiers, family members, retirees, and eligible Federal civilian employees referred for consultation.
Prepare written findings and diagnoses in a detailed, clear, and concise manner.
Prepare treatment plans that incorporate psychological theory and counseling techniques, and goals needed to restore patients to their normal work and social environment.
Provide strategic interventions, motivational interviewing techniques and crisis counseling for patients and families.
Document case findings, diagnoses, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
Apply complex behavioral health principles to conduct comprehensive behavioral health evaluations.
