About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Youth Center on the Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek, SC. . The position may require the incumbent to transport children in a government vehicle therefore a valid state driver's license must be obtained and maintained; a good driving record may be required as a condition of employment.

Plans, develops, organizes, manages, and administers an enhanced youth sports and fitness program. Develops and implements programs to accommodate the wide range of interests; for both fitness and sports activities in traditional as well as trendy and specialized activities. Reviews program guidelines, resource materials and local community youth programs to obtain ideas to be adapted to fit base requirements. Ensures that program activities emphasize those activities most appropriate to the interest and developmental needs of the youth population served. Provides guidance and leadership to various activities and participants, modifying, adapting, expanding or otherwise changing plans and procedures for specific duties relating to each activity programmed and assures that required records, data and files are maintained. Develops recommendations to change or improve installation policies and procedures for program implementation. Coordinates with base organizations to ensure that sports advisory members are assigned and conducts sports council meetings to assure the by-laws and philosophy of youth sports isthoroughly understood. Manages and maintains up to four practice and play areas which include indoor and outdoor facilities such as gymnasiums, softball/baseball fields, soccer fields, etc., to accommodate the comprehensive youth fitness and sports program. Coordinates use of other facilities/areas as needed. Ensures program is inclusive of special needs children. Ensures weekly inspections are conducted on fitness and sports equipment, fields, and facilities with discrepancies documented and forwarded to the appropriate office for correction. Solicits, selects and directs volunteers and contract instructors for activities and specialty program 11 which could not be scheduled without such assistance. Orders, receives and dispenses all sports equipment and uniform items and responsible for inventory content. Supervises Recreation Aid, contract employees and volunteers involved in with the youth fitness and sports program. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates. Ensures compliance with higher headquarters guidance as well as National Alliance for Youth Sports NAYS) and Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) standards.
