About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center Pools.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and waler rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training. and CPR (both child and adult) training. For coastal lifeguards; In addition to the above. must also have surf rescue techniques training. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities. rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Must be able 10 satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons al schedule times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble. promptly administers first aid. and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions. ocean conditions of rough water or hazards and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may opern1c water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets sp1..-cificd standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracked or loose matting. and that necessary repairs are made.
