Job Description:

This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC position is located in the Logistics function of an ARNG Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG.
General Experience: Must possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12: Must have 18 months experience and the journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 or WU-10 grade level? Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Performing duties as a dedicated crew chief; Responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; Coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; Serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft. THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
