Job Description:
You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the Global Deterrence Defense Department (GX), Strategist Systems Hardware Division (GXW) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-4 (GS-12/13 grade equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist leading the development and testing of hypersonic systems or missiles to identify and mitigate hazards during flight tests for the improvement and success of weapons system programs. You will serve as NSWC Crane’s subject matter expert for Hypersonic Weapon System development and flight testing, focusing on solid rocket motor propulsion, flight test certification, and providing worldwide logistics to National Test Ranges.
You will be assigned as a Senior Manager for supporting developmental flight testing across the DoD.
You will oversee, mentor, and lead the engineering activities for planning and execution of flight tests.
You will demonstrate understanding of all phases of flight test operations including M and S, analysis, test and evaluation.
You will work within a team environment to meet rapid timelines, simultaneous development, analysis and testing of multiple new and improved capabilities to support requested warfighter needs.
You will be responsible for mission management and execution of all flight test activities.
