Job Description:

This position is assigned to the immediate staff of the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR). The Bureau is charged with implementing U.S. foreign policy and promoting U.S. interests in Europe and Eurasia and advising the Under Secretary for Political Affairs. EUR is also responsible for relations with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), European Union (EU), and other transatlantic and European international organizations.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience developing and implementing policies applicable to management reform and oversight practices. Experience providing operational and advisory support on various administrative and management processes. Experience managing, tracking, organizing, and controlling documents and correspondence. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position. Minimum Qualifications: To be considered well qualified, in addition to meeting minimum qualifications candidates must demonstrate proficiency in some, but not all of the major aspects of the position.
Develops and implements procedures, standards, and guidance for efficient operation of various administrative processes.
Serves as the primary advisor and technical expert on administrative office functions and keeps abreast of new policies, procedures, regulations, directives, etc. that impact the efficiency of EUR/FO operations.
Serves as a central point of contact and liaison with EUR/FO Principals and with principals throughout the Department and the Interagency regarding issues affecting EUR.
Maintains awareness of all current policy decisions and the status of important pending matters, for purposes of information and guidance to the various bureau offices.
Serves as a Front Office contact, providing internal and external communication and coordination with Bureau staff and the interagency community on a variety of projects that are of direct interest and concern to the Assistant Secretary.
