To qualify for the Carpenter, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required at this level. These duties require skill in Constructing, altering, and repairing new and/or existing buildings and structures, fittings, panels, partitions, and other wood or wood substitute, performing building and carpentry practices and Using blueprints or specifications in determining materials, dimensions, and sequences of steps needed to complete the work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
Applies carpentry skills to construct, alter, install, repair, and modify building and pem1anent building fixtures.
Constructs, repairs, and installs structural items such as building frames, rafters, concrete forms, walls, staircases, door and window frames/sashes, interior and exterior trim.
Constructs miscellaneous items such as workbenches, counter tops, bookcases, equipment/file cabinets, computer consoles, picture frames and items requiring decorative trim and molding.
Performs carpentry work to install or move production and facilities equipment, repair and hang blinds and locks, and install panic bar hardware and door closers.
