THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a COMMANDER, Position Description Number D1870000 and is part of the CO 233D Space Group, National Guard. The primary purpose is to serve as full time Commander of an Air Support Operations Group (ASOG).
Military Grades: O-6 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. You will be immediately disqualified if you fail to include specialized experience in your resume. Must have experience in each of the following: 1. Experience managing and directing the Air Support Operations Group and provide managerial oversight of multiple ASOS and TACP squadrons that are geographically separated. 2. Experience developing long and short range plans that are based on worldwide external trends and events, and implement these changes to the organization, group and multiple squadrons, in order to meet these evolving changes and expectations. 3. Experience in planning and coordinating short and long term budgetary requirements with USAF and ANG MAJCOM functional managers. 4. Experience in preparing and maintaining deployment and mission execution plans in accordance with higher headquarters plans, programs and policies. 5. Experience in planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
Manages and directs the Air Support Operations Group and provides managerial oversight of multiple ASOS and TACP squadrons that are geographically separated. Exercises delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of two ASOS and fourteen TACP Squadron operational programs that are regionally separated. Ensures funds, equipment, manpower and facilities are properly resourced and utilized to meet the mission objectives and requirements. Incumbent exercises direct authority for the readiness and implementation of ASOS/TACP weapon systems and all activities at the operational level of war readiness. Incumbent duties require frequent contact with leadership in Air Combat Command (ACC), United States Air Force, Europe (USAFE), Pacific Air Force (PACAF), Central Command (CENTCOM), NGB and state headquarters, as well as local civilian and political leaders. Determines unit goals that are the foundation for long and short range planning and execution of all internal programs and provides the focus for all functions and activities in the group. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Incumbent actively helps NGB shape the force to meet changing needs of the Air Force by participating on Integrated Process Teams (IPT) at NGB, tailoring force structure for the future. As a member of the Wing Staff, makes presentations at Wing meetings, sits on selection panels with the Wing Commander, and is an active member of the Wing's Financial Management Board, Facility Utilization Board, Manpower Committee, Safety Council and Requirements Council. Performs other duties as assigned.
