Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Regulations and Rulings, Communications & Business Management Branch, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Reviewing and managing web requests for both our external website, as well as internal SharePoint Online websites. Assisting in the updates of fact sheets, talking points, issue papers, scripts, articles, briefing memos, public affairs guidance, press releases, event notices, explanatory documents for program-specific internal policies and processes, management briefings, presentations, and conference material for supervisors and executive management. Assisting in the review of many outgoing responses to ensure that the proper format has been followed and that information identified is accurate and complete. Providing basic guidance on format, template, timeframe, priority, sensitivity, and approval requirements to personnel to assist them in supplying a complete response in accordance with agency guidelines. GS-11 Education Substitution: A Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M. degree may substitute for experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester hours or 81 quarter hours. GS-11 Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the GS-11 grade. GS-12 Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Researching and fact-finding, developing correlating information, and determining the applicability of conflicting information. Supporting in implementing, coordinating, and executing a variety of communication program related activities affecting the agency. Planning, developing, and coordinating briefings, Microsoft Forms, presentations, and conferences for executive management on special projects. Reviewing all outgoing responses to ensure that the proper format has been followed and that information identified is accurate and complete. While serving as a Correspondence Analyst, your duties may include: Serving as a main point of contact for all incoming and outgoing taskings, deliverables, and correspondence, and as a primary contact person between Office of Trade offices regarding tasks correspondence assigned to Office of Trade for response. Reviewing, analyzing, and prioritizing all incoming tasking deliverables and correspondence for offices within the Office of Trade flowing from the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and Division Directors, OT Headquarters, the CBP Front Office, other CBP program offices, various U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) components, the White House, Congress, other Federal or state agencies, non-governmental organizations, and from private citizens. Assisting with developing graphics, and visuals, consistent with the Office of Trade brand. Demonstrating the ability to plan, develop, and coordinate briefings, Microsoft Forms, presentations, and conferences for executive management on special projects.
