Job Description:

This POLICE OFFICER position is located in ANG Security Forces Squadron, installations with a police function to include Jefferson Barracks and is part of the CA 144 FW.
POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-7: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by: Knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; Experience gained in working on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Arrest/Apprehension Emergency Response Investigation and Reporting Personnel Security and Safety CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED - The maximum entry age for DoD Law Enforcement is 37. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37 will not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions. For exceptions to the maximum entry age, see DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 336, January 22, 2015, Incorporating Change 1, December 1, 2017, Enclosure 3, Section 3. - Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by NGB/A4 and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification. - Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment. - Incumbent must qualify and remain qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. - Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually. - The incumbent of this position is required to meet certain physical requirements and is required to provide a copy of their current AF Form 422 or AF Form 469 annually. - This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is/are subject to the possibility of a random drug test. - Must complete the following duty position evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in AFI 36-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Program. The DPE qualifications must occur in this order; (1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center Controller/Dispatcher.
THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-7, is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect, and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement in investigations, arrests and/or detention, or apprehension, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions. These duties must be coordinated with local law enforcement. Provide integrated defense, law enforcement, force protection, preserve the peace, detect, and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement in investigations, arrests and/or detention, or apprehension, and respond to emergency situations. Enforce a wide range of federal laws and assimilated local laws for application and enforcement within the jurisdiction of the military installation. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
