A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in facility and maintenance operations. Ability to apply the principles, methods, techniques and theories of mechanical and electrical to oversee the management and administration of facilities and maintenance functions. Knowledge of work methods and practices of various building trades. Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health and environmental regulations. Ability to supervise. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
Responsible for the administration and management of the facilities and maintenance department of a recreational program. Acts as the liaison with MCCS Logistics on facility and maintenance repair, projects, renovations and minor construction. Initiates the repair and maintenance of equipment in support of facility activities. Observes required safety, sanitation, and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. Prepares and/or approves requisitions for all necessary equipment and supplies. Maintains inventory and is responsible for purchasing and property accounting records. Acts as primary point of contact with MCCS Logistics Project Managers in support of the base Facility Maintenance Department on maintenance matters. Plan, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Monitors programs on a regular basis, and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of the activity. Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Counsels and trains employees, schedules and directs work, appraises work performance. Approves or disapproves leave, personnel actions and verifies daily attendance and time cards. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
