Qualification Requirements for GS-06 Lead Security Guard: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing armed guard services for the protection of life (employees, visitors, patients, etc.); maintaining an activity report to document shift activity; and coordinating with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization to protect property against hazards such as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Lead assigned shift of security guards at the Medical Treatment Facility.
Develop schedules and shift training plans, based on requirements identified by the Guard Supervisor.
Guides guard personnel in the daily activities to include walking patrol, vehicle patrol, static post, traffic control, investigations, incident response and command center operations.
Duty includes execution of the physical security, crime prevention and anti- terrorism and emergency management programs as directed by the MTF Chief of Security/Chief of Guards.
Execute Random Anti-Terrorism Measures (RAM) as directed.
Monitor personnel access via both personal sight and electronic access control systems into restricted areas and intrusion detection system alarms using both manual and electronic methods.
