Job Description:

This position is part of the Cheyenne River Education Line Office, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Supervisory Education Specialist (Early Childhood/Special Education) you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the education activities of the school to include planning, developing, directing and conducting BIE school programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience at the 05 Level: Is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be qualified, you must have two (2) years experience in teaching or other professional education experience. A maximum of two (2) years teaching or counseling experience is creditable toward meeting the full qualification requirement. Specialized Experience at the 06 Level: Is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be qualified, you must have three (3) years experience in teaching or other professional education experience. A maximum of two (2) years teaching or counseling experience is creditable toward meeting the full qualification requirement of three (3) years experience. Education Requirement: Level 05: Bachelor's degree (or higher) with a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit in early childhood AND special education. As a Supervisory Education Specialist (Early Childhood/Special Education) CE-1710-5/6, your typical work assignments may include the following: Provide professional and instructional leadership to the faculty and is responsible for the development of a school curriculum. Oversee Education programs and provide technical guidance. Responsible for planning, implementing, supervision and coordination of changes to program identified by school principal. Review and analyze data from multiple sources to provide detail recommendations on school and program improvements. Required to be current with all pertinent education legal issues relative to area of specialty identified in this vacancy announcement. Responsible for complete control, planning, implementing, supervision and coordination safety and the school's Facility Management program. Assign, supervise and direct the work of professional, paraprofessional, contract education staff and wage employees. Responsible to promote activities for the general welfare, to enhance public relations with the community and public school, and cooperate with other Bureau program personnel including Federal/State officials in administering their programs in the community
