You will serve as a MISCELLANEOUS SHOPS SUPERVISOR II in the Waterfront Services Division, Repair Department of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO SUPERVISE THROUGH SUBORDINATE SUPERVISORS. Ability to plan a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and other resources under his/her control. Ability to determine resource requirements, materials, and the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules. Ability to establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively, but harmoniously with subordinate workers in the hierarchy and to render sound supervisory decisions. You will determine and plan for resources requirements such as manpower, equipment, facilities and materials.
You will control work progress and cost expenditures by effective distribution of manpower and other resources and by implementing other work process improvements.
You will approve the selection of subordinate supervisors, evaluate performance, counsel and handle personnel issues.
You will be responsible for the generation of directives, instructions, procedures and policies, definition and justification of staffing needs, development/revision of the Divisional organizational structure.
You will evaluate work operations and review completed work and inspection reports to assure that standards are met; and coordinate work operations with the supervisors of other organizations and functions.
You will determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment, set performance standards, and make formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
