THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2938000 and is part of the ND G3, National Guard.
PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. MILITARY GRADES: O5 and below QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience at the GS 11 level which includes: 1) Developing and implementing a safety program to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses; 2) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; 3) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; and 4) Managing safety program elements.
Serves as the State, Territory, District of Columbia Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the maintenance of a comprehensive ground and explosives, safety program for the State. Provides technical expertise for the State ARNG Safety and Occupational Health Management Systems (ASOHMS) within the broad framework of statutory public law, DOD, Army, and National Guard policy, goals, and objectives. Coordinates, conducts, and participates in safety and occupational health inspections and surveys in a widespread geographic dispersion of diverse operations posing serious hazards of unpredictable consequences to humans and property. Identifies complex and unconventional hazards, and unsafe conditions and practices. Performs or participates in mishap investigations to determine origins, causes, and contributing elements. Initiates and carries out safety education activities based on organizational/industry trend analysis of hazards and mishaps. Prepares and distributes safety promotional and informative materials to maintain safety awareness. Prepares or assists in preparing responses to OSHA citations and inquiries, Inspector General inquiries, and employee safety grievances and complaints. Reviews, prepares, and provide leadership briefings for accident investigation mishap reports. Reviews purchase, service, and construction contracts.
