Job Description:

Joining the Secret Service, Software Solutions Division, United States Secret Service will allow you to secure, develop, implement and sustain information technology to support the U.S. Secret Service enterprise and it Protective and Investigative missions. To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements of this position through experience OR education as outlined below. Basic Requirement: Possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $52,205.00) if you possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Gathering system requirements from customers to provide software solutions; Reviewing and/or editing of program control documents; and Ensuring the integrity and security of databases. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. OR Education : Masters or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks from an accredited college or university. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The selectee will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (DEV/DTA) in the Software Solutions Division, Office of the Chief Information Officer. Typical work assignments include: Developing, creating, maintaining, and writing/coding (new or modifying existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs. Analyzing the security of new or existing computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs, provides actionable results. Administering databases and/or data management systems that allow for the secure storage, query, protection, utilization of data. Examining data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of providing security and privacy insight. Designing and implementing custom algorithms, workflow processes, and layouts for complex, enterprise-scale data used for modeling, data mining and research.
