About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Resource Management Flight, Kirtland AFB, NM. This position will be filled as Regular Full Time employment category, guaranteed 35.0 hours/week. Qualifying Experience: Must have a working knowledge of most recent industry Windows/Microsoft operating programs and systems. Must understand the differences of each system. Must have working knowledge to install these operating systems and train users. Possess sufficient knowledge of electrical requirements and communications cabling to conduct surveys and propose necessary upgrades required to install new and/replacement systems. Must have knowledge of current "off-the-shelf" hardware, software and operating systems to be able to make well informed recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and to actively participate in the source selection process. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in enclosed spaces. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This is a developmental position having a known promotion potential to the Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration), NF-2210-IV level with PG # 10000. Upon satisfactory completion of required certification and with supervisory recommendation, may be noncompetitively promoted to the higher grade level. Under close supervison, incumbent performs a variety of developmental and/or routine tasks and assists higher graded employees. Serves as assistant to the lead IT Specialist who serves as system administrator of all networks within the 377th Force Support Squadron. Responsible for analyzing, managing, and performing work necessary to assist with planning, designing, development, acquiring, documenting, testing, implementing, integrating, maintaining, or modifying systems for solving problems or accomplishing work process by using computers. Assists in providing quality customer support and training to all activities that operate numerous individual systems. Assists in conducting surveys, recommends necessary preparations and assists in installing and implementing new systems squadron-wide. Troubleshoots computer problems, assists in determining whether the problem is hardware or software related and takes necessary corrective action. Assists in developing and/or changing scripts/programs as required in accomplishing the mission. Recommends what equipment will best perform the tasks required of a system in terms of efficiency and economy. Performs studies on hardware/software and communications requirements. Makes recommendations for in-house development or "off-the-shelf" purchases for all squadron requirements as well as proper placement to ensure maximum usage of current computer equipment.Assists the systems administrator by installing and maintaining PC's within the squadron, configuring and loading software on all computer equipment and trains squadron personnel on the use of computers. May implement/install Time Compliance Network Order (TCNO) patches and standard desktop configurations. Ensures and tracks that all squadron personnel conduct their annual Information Protection and assurance training. Monitors inventories of all Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) for Resource Management. Assists in turning in outdated ADPE equipment to DRMO and/or NAF sales. Serves as a Computer Support Administrator (CSA), Functional System Administrator (FSA), and Cyber Security Liaison (CSL). Completes imaging of PCs and laptops. May work uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, week-ends, holidays, and down days. Performs routine system support duties such as modifying user profiles, modifying device profiles, resetting passwords, and performing file maintenance. Performs other related duties as assigned.
