THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)-Title 5, Position Description Number T5240P01 and is part of the WI 115 OSS, Wisconsin Air National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must have one year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience developing, modifying, and testing overall system backup and recovery strategies. Able to develop, assign, and coordinate projects for systems administrators. Experience developing, modifying, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for systems. Candidate can install, configure and test hardware and software associated with multiple operating systems and computer platforms. Experience planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing and troubleshooting to support customer needs. Capable of troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on multiple computer platforms. Candidate is knowledgeable on diagnosing system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software and application programs. Experience implementing operating system releases and maintaining the operational status of systems.
Serves as project leader responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for all systems. Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms. *** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. ***
