This position is located at Fort Shafter Library, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. The Fort Shafter Library serves as a public library for the military communities of Fort Shafter, Fort Shafter Flats, Tripler, Aliamanu Military Reservation, and surrounding area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. One year of work experience that equipped the applicant with practical knowledge of library or related information services, tools, and methods and procedures. 2. Experience must have been gained at the next lower level. 3. Additionally, one year of supervisory experience required. ***Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above to be considered for this job position. HIGHLY PREFERRED CRITERIA: 1. Possess at least two (2) years of Public Library and/or MWR Library experience. 2. Possess at least two (2) years of personnel management. 3. Have experience planning and conducting programs for Adults and Teenagers. Incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of public service duties: circulation, reference/reader's advisory, database searching, collection maintenance, programming, marketing, displays/publicity, interlibrary loans, reserves.
A wide variety of technical service duties: cataloging/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing/accounting for and de-acquisitioning of library materials, shelf inventories.
Performs selected administrative management duties to include ensuring internal controls are in place in public services and/or technical services.
Performs the full range of supervisory duties, including recommending recruitment or reassignment actions, conducts performance appraisals and submits for approval by the manager.
Trains others in the performance of library technician duties, plans work and sets priority to improve production and increase quality.
