Job Description:

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE (CODE 0100PAO), SHIPYARD COMMANDER'S OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience implementing public relations practices and concepts applicable to a wide range of duties spanning the full spectrum of public relations. * Experience conducting press releases, media interviews, coordinating special events, speech writing/presentations, and developing strategic communication plans for media relations and community relations. * Experience with industrial management systems and procedures, program management organization and methodologies, and Shipyard operations. * Experience working with and implementing current Navy Public Affairs instructions and regulations. * Experience providing leadership, coordination and direction to support all VIP visits to the Shipyard. You will be responsible for the management of the Public Affairs Office.
You will handle inquiries from congressional, state and municipal legislators/officials, and from the media as well.
You will provide support to the Shipyard Commander for all public relations matters including internal Shipyard communications and all external written and oral communications.
You will advise the Shipyard Commander and senior staff on communication practices and policies concerning public disclosure.
You will be responsible for security reviews and public release of information concerning command issues or programs, and the public affairs aspects and impact strategic decisions.
