THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTARNG.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Must possess Federal Aviation Administrative pilot certificate -OR- appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities). Must be a graduate of the Aviation Maintenance Officer Course (AMOC) prior to application. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a competent understanding of the occupation's basic principles and concepts. Applicants should have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience in civilian aviation programs; or, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities; or, in the Air National Guard Operations Groups. Experience in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation. Experience in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence and weather information. Experience in filing of flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experience in performing or supervising the work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling; search and rescue operations; or surveillance and reconnaissance. Experience in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders. Experience demonstrating knowledge in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures. Experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration directives. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to instruct or evaluate student pilots in advanced instrument technique; to provide combat training to rated pilots in the operation of a variety of advanced military aircraft; to instruct fixed wing pilots in methods of instruction and evaluate their proficiency to engage in flight instruction; to instruct and evaluate test pilots, to perform special projects involving a comparable responsibility and skill; or combinations of these assignments. Ability to fly twin-engine or multiengine aircraft equipped with electronic devices used to inspect air navigational facilities, and to evaluate the safety and practicability of terminal and enroute flight procedures. Ability to fly heavy multiengine airplanes on extended flights, with responsibility for transporting passengers and/or cargo to and from a wide variety of domestic and foreign points. Ability to test aircraft with substantially modified systems. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Warrant: CW4 through CW5 UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit within the state SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to serve as the supervisor of either the Production Control (PC), Maintenance, or Quality Control (QC) divisions within an AVCRAD/TASMG. The incumbent is accountable to a wide variety of federal, state, and local authorities on all aspects of operations, personnel, equipment, funds, and real property. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Directs work operation involving subordinate employees. Responsible for piloting rotary wing aircraft, will participate in performance of test flights and transportation of aircraft to or from the TASMG/AVCRAD. Communicates and coordinates items of interest and potential adverse impact at the highest levels of national, state, and local leadership. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of an AVCRAD, a highly industrialized depot facility engaged in the maintenance, repair, and/or overhaul of rotary wing aircraft, assemblies, subassemblies, accessories, components, and parts in accordance with the Depot Maintenance Concept. Responsible for the planning and execution of all operational, administrative, and technical functions of the organization managed through subordinate supervisors and/or leaders.
