A minimum of three years experience that demonstrates responsible administrative, professional, and technical work involving marina operations, including boating, the use and related mechanics of equipment, and recreational activities. Supervisory experience preferred. Incumbent must deal effectively with subordinates, management officials and patrons, and communicate both orally and in writing. Required to receive US Sailing certificate within first 6 months of employment and US Coast Guard Captains License within 1 year of employment. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
Responsible for management control and efficient operation of a full-service marina that includes slip rental, watercraft rental, and watercraft and motor repairs. Implements higher level directives, formulates procedure and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional efforts. Carries out necessary liaison with other staff officials that support marina activities, events, purchase of marina equipment, etc. Conducts inspections of the marina facility and associated equipment. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of boats, equipment, and recommends/implements protocol to meet environmental and safety requirements. Establishes and provides training and qualifies personnel in safe equipment operations. Originates, develops, promotes and conducts special events. Conducts certification classes for sailboat and powerboat operators. Plans, organizes work, and manages internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies. Prepares financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost controls, and related records and reports. Monitors and reviews the financial status of the activity and initiates corrective action to ensure budgetary goals are met. Supervises employees to include assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending, and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews, and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, prevention of sexual harassment, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, security, sanitation and other environmental issues Manages new property resources and provides advice on renovations and improvements. Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud waste and abuse. Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction with the quality of goods and services. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned.
