Job Description:

You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Safety and Health Division, Environment, Safety and Health Department of PSNS and IMF.
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting safety and occupational health surveys in a shipyard or industrial environment and recommending measures to eliminate or control hazardous practices or conditions. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: obtaining safety or occupational health data and information to prepare a report of findings regarding work operations, mishaps, or safety practices. You will develop and conduct safety and health training for supervisors and employees covering a variety of standards, general safety and health subjects.
You will apply safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements.
You will inspect or survey workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards.
You will analyze or evaluate new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards.
You will be assigned to support PSNS waterfront projects in the role of Environment Safety and Health (ESH) manager, and you will support the safety consulting branch as needed.
