You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST in the INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE PROGRAM OFFICE of NMRTC CAMP PENDLETON CA. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service
For the GS- 12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices carrying out all industrial hygiene programs Investigating health problems to determine probable cause and recommend measures to minimize health hazards Devising control measures, including ventilation, shielding, material substitution, change in work procedures, isolation, education and personal protective devices Planning and carrying out industrial hygiene inspections and surveys. For the GS- 11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. You will serve as a team leader for those activities requiring expertise in highly complex and sensitive surveys in high hazard workplaces.
You will perform duties encompassing all phases of the industrial hygiene program as specified by Department of Defense (DoD).
You will research literature for available information and present findings with recommendations or alternatives.
You will evaluate new work processes used at the activity for which information on hazards is lacking and precedents for the control of hazards are only partially applicable.
You will exercise resourcefulness in planning and developing individualized methods and approaches to obtain a valid and complete evaluation.
You will adapt and modify established methods of control to meet requirements.
You will furnish technical advice to managers, supervisors, employees and other specialists concerning operations which directly affect worker safety and health.
