Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
Major duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Ensures smooth functioning of the Pain Service Clinic. Provides initial review and triage of all consults coming into the Pain Clinic. Assists in Care coordination for all chronic pain veterans to include those receiving care in the community. Provide pre and post procedure education. Comprehensive assessment of chronic pain patients. Tracking and appropriate reporting of facility based Opioid Safety metrics. Assists, PACT team and multi-disciplinary team with risk mitigating data collection (UDS, OSI, etc.). Builds collaborations amongst service lines to ensure safe pain practices. Collaborate with members of both PACT and multi-disciplinary team to ensure smooth care transition. Provide staff and veteran and/or their family education consistent with a multidisciplinary Whole Health approach. Administers medication per established policies and guidelines. Participates in the Interdisciplinary Pain Team meetings, Pain over-sight Committee, OSI, Storm, etc. Utilizes a patient-centered approach to care. Back-up to the Travel Veteran Coordinator VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 07:30am - 4:00pm.
