Job Description:

You will serve as a Tool Room Mechanic in the Production Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and illustrated parts breakdown of tools and equipment; 2) Disassembling tools and equipment of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical nature to determine the need for repair and/or adjustment; 3) Maintaining an accurate and precise tool usage record of all tools and equipment of the tool room; 4) Testing reworked tools and equipment to assure proper performance and making necessary adjustments to achieve the desired operating parameters. You will manage, track, distribute, and troubleshoot a wide variety of hand tools and equipment of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical nature to determine their condition.
You will reassemble parts and assemble both tools and equipment to establish close tolerances and find adjustments.
You will operate and test reworked tools and equipment to assure their desired operating parameters are met in accordance with the specifications and requirements of users.
You will log all tools and equipment "in" and "out".
You will replace defective, broken, or worn parts as required using replacement parts stocked in the tool room or the supply system when such parts are available.
You will purchase new tools, equipment, and repair parts within an allotted budget.
You will examine disassembled parts of both tools and equipment to determine the need for repairs or non-repair ability of the item.
