About the Position: This position is located in the Nutrition Care, Food Production and Services directorate at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC. The Food Service Worker will work in the kitchen, dish room, and dining facility. This position operates on a rotating shift schedule. The shift will rotate from early (0600 - 1430) and late (1000 - 1830) hours on a regular basis. Will be subject to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Food Service Worker tasks. I can portion salads and desserts; make cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients; wash dishes, pots, and pans manually; clean kitchen equipment, dining room tables, and floors. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices PHYSICAL EFFORT: Exerts moderate physical effort in lifting and carrying items weighing from 16 - 44 lbs. Work involves prolonged standing and walking, mainly on concrete floors. Pushes loaded tray carts on elevators and to wards, then delivering patient trays to patients' bed stand with training. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed predominantly in noisy kitchen and dining room areas. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used and is exposed to dirt, cleaning chemicals, grease, and water in cleaning tasks. Incumbent is subject to extremes in temperatures when bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators. Wears safety shoes and other protective items as required.
Replenish food service counters and steam tables with hot and cold food.
Prepare condiments, silverware and glassware for service stands.
Remove used utensils and dishes to dishwashing area.
Arrange salads and desserts for regular and modified diets.
Unload supplies from supply trucks into proper storage area.
Sanitize garbage and trash containers within garbage collection areas.
