Job Description:

You will serve as a MACHINIST in Shops 31 and 84, Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

You will determine the machine and tools best suited for work assignments.
You will set up appropriate machine and related equipment to perform desired operations.
You will align and secure work pieces on bed, turntable, or face-plate of machine.
You will establish reference points and lying out work pieces using surface places, precision blocks, scales, dividing heads, and similar devices to provide a means of locating points and surfaces during machining operations.
You will set up and operate various machine tools including various types and sizes of lathes, boring mills, milling machines, precision grinding machines and various specialized or multipurpose machines.
You will be required to program and operate Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines.
You will machine forgings and bar stock of various metals and metal alloys.
