Job Description:

You will serve as the Deputy Department Head for Undersea Weapons at Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Keyport, Washington (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA).
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-4 pay band (GS-12/13 grade level equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist designing systems or equipment for undersea warfare systems. Examples of Qualifying Experience may include supporting a wide range of theories, concepts, principles, computer systems applications, and methodology of the science of engineering relevant to the design of systems and equipment for undersea and surface warfare weapons, systems and vehicles, and Naval training and sustainment systems; investigating a variety of problems and unconventional operating requirements, and determining and/or recommending solutions to improve the efficiency and increase the lifecycle of systems and equipment; using analytical processes, such as setting up the problem, conducting background research, collecting and reducing data and drawing conclusions; and/or developing strategic planning, and executing an investment roadmap. You will assist the Department Head in managing a highly technical workforce engaged in the development, test and evaluation, acquisition, sustainment, and other scientific and engineering efforts supporting undersea weapons and related systems.
You will directly support the Department Head in managing the business and administrative activities necessary to conduct technical work.
You will plan, execute, and monitor the effectiveness of financial management, contracting, human resources, material management, and similar functions.
You will assist the Department Head in developing strategies, technical roadmaps, workforce shaping policies, and investment portfolios in support of the department's technical mission.
You will assess, verify effectiveness, and develop corrective action plans for all Department programs, projects and processes and their adherence/compliance to Federal, DoD/DON, Warfare Center, and Command policies and regulations.
