To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-09 and GS-11: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: GS-09 and GS-11: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-09: Experience maintaining operations or performing industrial quality assurance tasks. Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) and spreadsheet application, retrieving and verifying information to make routine industrial related decisions. Experience in products and services supporting product manufacturing and providing support and responding to customer inquiries. Experience preparing progress reports, memos, letters, and documents. GS-11: Experience in planning production, laying out process steps and specifying equipment for each product work station, which includes cutting, assembling, printing, and packing. Experience in the supervision and direction of the production, planning, and scheduling of a manufacturing cycle. Experience in ensuring manpower and equipment in all areas of production are utilized efficiently and products are manufactured to specifications. Experience in coordinating with quality control personnel and factory foreman to ensure quality control and quantity production throughout the operation. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Serves as a Supervisory Production Controller in UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries at a Federal Bureau of Prisons' correctional facility. Responsible for the direct supervision of staff in the various UNICOR business and factory operations. Plans and assigns work, maintains work flow, evaluates the performance of federal civilian employees and indirectly the work and training of federal inmate workers. Coordinates with quality control personnel and factory foremen, to ensure quality control and quantity production throughout the operation. Plans production, lays out process steps and specifies equipment for each product work station, which includes cutting, assembling, printing and packing. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
