Job Description:

The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the facility supervisor to which the selectee is appointed. This recruit will fill a single position for Sioux City, IA and a single position located at Pierre, SD. The employee assists in the environmental health needs, plans the environmental health program, writes report and will participate in the functions related to Native American Indian Communities.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-07: One (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: provide mental health intake process, conduct patient assessment to determine treatment plan, use of Center of Medicine Behavioral Health standards for prevention and treatment services to reduce disparities and improve patient mental health, navigate billable standards for Medicaid or equivalent health coverage, coordinate patient plans in consultation to applicable professional and medical staff for patient referral or transfer. or One (1) full year of graduate level education related to environmental health (such as sanitary science, public health, chemistry, microbiology, or any appropriate agricultural, biological, or physical sciences appropriate to the position). or Superior Academic Achievement based on my class standing, grade-point average, or honor society membership. or Combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described above that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. GS-09: One (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples Include: perform evidenced-based psychotherapy through variety of acute and chronic mental health problems, case planning that includes diagnosis, recommend treatment, documentation of patent encounters, create statistical and narrative reports, initiate referrals for evaluation and/or medication prescription. or Two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to environmental health (such as sanitary science, public health, chemistry, microbiology, or any appropriate agricultural, biological, or physical sciences appropriate to the position). or Combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described above that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Assists and actively participates in designated community Injury Prevention Program (IPP) activities as assigned. Engages in record keeping, development of priorities, identification of resources, and in the implementation and evaluation of IPP interventions. As assigned conducts food service sanitation surveys of IHS, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) institutions, Head Start centers, day care centers, eating establishments, and Tribal celebrations in accordance with Public Health Service standards.
