Incumbent is a working leader performing various duties, where needed, throughout the textile care processing facility. Provides leadership, direction and sets the pace of daily operations, to all textile care employees (machine operators, laundry floor employees), during the absence of the Laundry Manager and on off tours. Assures there is proper workflow through each production unit to the linen and uniform unit. Shifts available staff between units to meet the varying daily workload demands.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Performs and leads the team members in processing of textiles to include the following, but not limited to washroom operations, pre-sorting of soiled linens, segregating of patient clothing, segregating of items, processing uniforms/scrubs suits Assures adequate amounts of clean linen are delivered to all using units to support direct patient care at this facility Assures time schedules are met for delivery of linen Makes sure daily linen quotas are met for the different hospitals that we service Also works as needed in various positions throughout the laundry to fill in for staff shortages Makes routine decisions and answers employees' questions regarding procedures and machine operation Checks work while in progress to ensure production needs are met and proper procedures are being applied Continually monitors the operations of the textile care processing facility and reports any malfunctions to the manager. Ensures all safety and infection control procedures and regulations are being observed Makes sure proper protective equipment is being used by all employees and volunteers assigned to the textile care processing facility Also demonstrates proper techniques and safe practice Also ensures that the quality and quantity of work performed meet established standards Notifies the manager or mechanic if equipment is malfunctioning to keep "down" time to a minimum. Observes team members to ensure that they are using supplies and equipment properly in order to avoid waste or damage Ensures all textile care personnel perform daily cleaning in an effective manner in each person's assigned area plus equipment used is properly cleaned All other duties as assigned Work Schedule: 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Mach Operator Leader/PD21L90O Physical Requirements: Incumbent must stand and/or walk continuously on hard surfaced floors. Activities require standing, stooping, bending and reaching when performing duties. Frequently lifts linens weighing up to 50 pounds and gets help to lift weights in excess of 50 pounds. Must be physically able to push and pull carts filled with linen weighing up to 800 pounds. Promotion Potential: NA
