This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) - Title 32, Position Description Number D2581P01 and is part of the WI JFHQ J6, Wisconsin National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.
As a IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) - Title 32, GS-2210-12, you will be responsible for accomplishing technical, analytical and advisory functions relating to long-term planning, strategy development and integration of future technology to meet customer requirements. MAJOR DUTIES: 1. Responsible for all facets of future operations, distributing, tracking all tasking, ensuring proper planning, and execution of all required operations and administrative orders are processed and completed. Processes all incoming Operations Orders (OPORD), Warning Orders (WARNOs), evaluates and determines IT requirements then assigns the OPORDs to respective personnel based on their functional and technical specialties. Works directly and proactively with the state Information Technology team members, monitors OPORD progress ensuring tasking are executed. Coordinates with DoD, ARCYBER, NETCOM, NGB, and/or Command S3 to ensure all OPORD issues are managed and completed. 2. Represents the CIO on all cross-functional teams or other planning teams (CFMO, G3, G5, etc.) and reviews all external long-term plans for possible IT requirements and develops strategies for future requirements. Engages with all customers to determine future IT requirements. Provides planning, consultation, and integration strategy for all IT services provided by the state IT department and functional teams. This function requires an understanding of state organizations missions, schedules and processes. Evaluates, defines, and designs the enterprise architecture and infrastructures. Ensures new IT systems and structures are in compliance with policies and guidelines. 3. Manages vendor relationships for the CIO and coordinates all vendor presentations for staff education on possible technical solutions. Attends external conferences and webinars with a focus on future technical solutions to meet customer requirements. Conducts feasibility studies for the acquisition of new types of automated computer systems to replace, add to or upgrade present equipment with intent of improving information management equipment operations. Type of equipment includes current generation computers, servers, peripheral devices, software, printers, etc. Gathers and reviews manufacturer's catalogs, brochures, and internet access concerning various equipment acquisitions based on functional requirement(s) and determines compatibility with the existing Activity architectural design. Contacts manufacturers to conduct market research, arranges for equipment demonstrations, and gathers technical and cost data. Identifies and develops scalable, standards-based IM/IT software solutions to satisfy new or modified customer requirements. Makes recommendations to superiors regarding equipment approval/consideration for applications. Keeps abreast of current market/and advancements in automated equipment for potential use in the Activity. 4. Based on involvement on long range planning teams, technical studies, and customer engagement develops, a long-range strategic and technical plan for the CIO. Prepares required inputs for budget submission. Performs other duties as assigned
