About the Position: This position is located at the 9th Medical Group in Beale Air Force Base, California. This is a Direct Hire Position. This position is temporary not to exceed 1 year.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience which may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories and provided a basic knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature; characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Receive and review individual prescriptions for pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, to determine kind, strength, and dosage of drugs to be dispensed.
Provide information and consultant advice to the prescriber on interactions and side effects.
Answer routine inquiries from doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the availability of specific items, e.g., drugs in stock, new drugs on order, and dosage forms available in the pharmacy.
Perform final pharmacy check on bulk drug orders, unit dose carts, and stockage for point of use cabinets that are issued to medical use areas within the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) IAW local policy.
Prepare prescriptions and drug orders as ordered by the pharmacist.
Prepare and maintain pharmacy records, files, and administrative reports.
