The position is located in the Department of Development and reports to the Deputy Director of Development. The incumbent is responsible for the development, solicitation, and management of corporate funding relationships on behalf of the National Gallery.
Specialized Experience Statement: For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-13 level in the Federal service, managing a gift program for a museum or cultural institution. *Education cannot be substituted in lieu of specialized experience at the NF-13 grade level. The Senior Development Officer: Identifies, cultivates, and solicits corporate donors for five to seven-figure gifts and multi-year commitments for National Gallery exhibitions and initiatives. Leads or oversees the development, writing, design, and production of materials for corporate fundraising purposes, including presentation books, proposals, final reports, and sponsorship agreements. Manages the implementation of sponsor benefits promptly and effectively with corporate donors. Incumbent keeps the Chief Development Officer updated on the negotiation of agreements with corporate sponsors, establishing positive relationships between the National Gallery and the corporation. Collaborates with colleagues in other departments to prepare budgets for the consideration of corporate sponsors. Explain and assist in negotiating budgets with potential corporate sponsors. Manages the process to ensure appropriate credit and recognition for corporate contributions are attributed at every opportunity and in accordance with National Gallery guidelines.
