The Social Worker Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Coordinator (IPVAP-C) position is based in the Aurora VA Medical Center. The Social Worker IPVAP-C provides clinical evidence based services including, assessments and interventions; program development; Veteran, family, Caregiver and staff education on intimate partner violence; community outreach; resource development; continuous quality improvement activities; and evaluation and consultation.

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: All applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f) Education: All applicants must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure/Certification: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-12 Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. (d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. Preferred Experience: At least two years' experience in an area of specialized social work practice. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-12. Physical Requirements: Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. The Social Worker must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the social worker or others. Position requires walking throughout the clinic and/or Medical Center, standing for extended periods of time, and involves sitting at a computer and in counsel and consultation with Veterans and interdisciplinary teams. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

In addition, the incumbent must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships with local, state and federal agencies as well as non-governmental organizations. As the Social Worker Initmate Partner Program Coordinator the incumbent responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serves as a liaison between the VA and community agencies. Participates in IPV assistance activities in the local community and state to promote and recognize the role of individuals who use and/or experience IPV. Participates on state and local IPV assistance committees. Invites state and community IPV related agencies to participate on the local VA IPV Assistance Advisory Board. Establishes and maintains access to electronic social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, secure email and YouTube in accordance with VA policy. Promotes the VA Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program in coordination with the local VA Public Affairs Officer through interviews with local print, voice and television media. Maintains basic knowledge of local VA medical center programs, community services and VA Central Office IPV Assistance initiatives. Maintains knowledge of current federal and state legislation related to IPV assistance initiatives. Administratively responsible for the clinical programming and daily operations of the program. Develops policies and procedures for program operation and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. Manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation.
