About the Position: This position is a Dentist (General Practice) at DENTAC at Fort Drum, New York. This is an open continuous announcement. Basic Requirements: Education: Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Note: You must attach a copy of your licensure.) Experience and/or Education Required: Applicants must have completed a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science. OR Applicants must have two years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-11). OR Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-11). When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than two years. Note: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
Treat common dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative or preventive measures such as single and multiple teeth extractions and restoration of simple and compound cavities.
Acquire mouth impressions of crowns, jackets, dentures and bridges and fit and insert the finished appliances.
Conduct group oral health counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, and diet counseling.
Consult with and refer patients to other appropriate specialists.
Perform various preventive measures such as conducting extensive prophylaxis treatment, performing deep scaling and root planning.
Submit performance data, dental records, consultation requests and other dental records in approved information management system.
