You will serve as a PRODUCTION MACHINERY MECHANIC in the Production Resource Department of PSNS and IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. You will read blueprints, interpret specifications, make templates and be familiar with the many types of machines, appliances, and equipment required to overhaul.
You will setup and operate lathes, milling machines, and shapers to accomplish emergency work.
You will install, maintain, repair and rehabilitate machine tools.
You will remove and replace broken, worn, misaligned or otherwise faulty parts.
You will disassemble machines, appliances and equipment.
You will recommend replacement, building, refitting or the redesigning of the examined parts.
You will give technical and work instructions to helpers, apprentices, and other employees.
