You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the COMMUNICATIONS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS DIRECTORATE of OPERATIONAL SUPPORT FACILITY. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying communications concepts, principles, and practices to analyze and respond to communication outages and/or degradations impacting the organization's mission. You will obtain highly technical NetOps information from diverse organizations, translate the information into layman terms as required, and provide NetOps assessments and recommendations to leadership.
You will assess operational mission impact of communications systems outages and degradations and provide Communications System (CS) management.
You will report and respond to CS outages in a timely manner.
You will act as the single point of contact and facilitate meetings to report Pacific Fleet CS events to numerous entities.
You will conduct thorough analysis of data derived from message reporting, emails, voice reports and web-based tools from diverse organizations.
You will acquire situational awareness in order to assess operational mission impact of communications systems outages and degradations affecting afloat and shore commands.
