The employee will be aligned under Supply Chain Management at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (SDVAHCS), San Diego, California.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position is located in a Healthcare Facility Logistics setting, requiring bending, stooping, lifting up 40 lbs., walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Determines the workflow for timely performance of assignments based on emergencies, known needs, and delivery requirements. Develops or oversees the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock in accordance with agency regulations which determine the configuration setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow for a specific commodity or equipment group such as general supplies, construction materials, medical supplies, high value items, or electronic systems. Verifies the space and execution plans of materials handlers are on hand and conform to established guidelines. Works with Engineering to ensure floor plan and overhead changes are reflected in Medical Center blueprints and schematic designs. Consolidates materials and provides maximum space utilization and protection of materials. In hazardous materials storage areas, assigns work to individuals to ensure the safe receipt, storage and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances such as certain types of ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements. Ensures that staff works in collaboration with Property Manager(s) [Inventory Management Specialist(s) (NX)] to follow customary sequences in planning work assignments to ensure appropriate disposition of equipment. Adheres to safe work practices, ensuring staff processes the delivery of materials including hazardous, flammable, and temperature sensitive products, which also includes the proper placement of items on shelves and pallets to ensure adequate safeguards and access. Ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and infections control standards are maintained at all times. Acts as a communications conduit between higher level supervisors to pass along priorities and resolves conflicting priorities among the warehouse's major segmented areas including but not limited to: Equipment Receiving and Shipping; Office and Printing Supplies; Logistics Medical Supplies; Internet Technology and High Value Items; Cleaning Supplies and Hazardous Materials; Pandemic and Emergency Contingency Supplies; and Mail Room Operations (if applicable). Serves as the senior leader of warehouse project teams involved in a special project such as a warehouse conversion from manual to automated systems, relocating a major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area. In addition to the equipment operating functions performed, ensures staff adhere to work priorities, project schedules and resources which may include the operation of large warehouse perimeter vehicles such as cargo trucks, stake trucks, and jumbo tugs.
