You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR in the Crane & Rigging Branch, Ordnance Department of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. You will operate cranes to move ammunition, missiles, heavy equipment, machinery beams, lumber, crated or packed material, and similar items.
You will maintain crane equipment, performing such tasks as replacing spark plugs and fan belts, and cleaning and lubricating parts of cranes.
You will provide and implement plans to ensure material handling equipment (MHE) and ordnance handling equipment (OHE) are certified, inspected, and tested in accordance with appropriate regulations.
You will receive, examine, segregate, process, store, and issue fleet returned ordnance materials of all types.
