Job Description:
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHY DIVISION of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing systems and platforms to plan and execute unique or special surveys. Experience in oceanography-related disciplines such as acoustics, bathymetry, hydrography, geology, geophysics, etc. Experience performing high-level review of performance plans, employee ratings and recognition and resolving employee disputes, disciplinary actions, and counseling on work and administrative matters. Experience providing recommendations for improvements for data collection, processing, and retention of oceanographic data and products. Experience reviewing the process and transmission of collected data, and the preparation and production of interpretative reports and publications. Experience preparing the Division budget, ensuring cost effective proposals and expenditure on resources needed to support objectives. Experience communicating effectively through written reports and oral communications sufficient to prepare and present findings and recommendations before groups including senior military (flag) officers and senior civilians. You will formulate plans to accomplish the Division mission and tasks based on broad guidelines provided by the Department Director.
You will interpret plans by the incumbent based on extensive experience and knowledge of physical oceanography and ocean sensing.
You will oversee the personnel of the Division and provide direct administrative and technical supervision to branch level supervisors, supervisory oceanographers and physical scientists.

You will be responsible for carrying out EEO policies and communicating support of these policies to subordinates.
You will keep abreast of scientific and technological developments in oceanography and special naval operations to improve the collection, processing, analysis, and presentation of useful environmental knowledge.
You will ensure the accuracy of environmental and climatological databases submitting updates as needed to the Oceanographic and Atmospheric Master Library (OAML).
You will prepare the Division budget, ensuring cost effective proposals and expenditure of resources needed to support objectives.
You will prepare current and out-year resource requests inclusive of requirement and impact statements.
