This National Guard position is for a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2162000 and is part of the OH 179 Cyberspace Wing, Ohio Air National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for all base electronic security systems by performing electronic security systems duties and managing all functions necessary to sustain electronic security protection in all areas of the installation.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
As a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-9, you will perform the following duties: 1. Responsible for the management and administration of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) program. Advises the MAJCOM SF IDS program manager of any base or site activities that will impact the Integrated Base Defense Security Systems (IBDSS) program. This includes, but is not limited to, mission changes resulting in increase or decrease of resources, reconfiguration of resource areas, and construction of facilities on or in the vicinity of current and planned sensor locations. Reports and documents all IDS maintenance requirements to the servicing maintenance organization. Monitors IDS false and nuisance alarms and, when necessary, requests assistance from the maintenance organization to resolve problems and deficiency. Coordinates with maintenance and materiel management functions to ensure sufficient spare parts and maintenance are available to support the IBDSS equipment and component. Maintains Technical Orders and commercial manuals that describe equipment components and operating procedures for IDS in use. Develops local training for system operators. Assists the standardization and evaluation section in developing certification standards for system operators. 2. Responsible for the management and administration of the physical access control systems (i.e. Defense Biometrics Identification System - DBIDS). Manages entry control point (ECP) related applications associated with DBIDS and the Security Forces Information Management System (SFMIS). Manages the functional and operational sustainment of all data processing programs such as DBIDS, SFMIS, and other systems installed and/or programmed for the ECP. Produces and maintains and related reports for command echelon personnel. Provides feedback to supervisor regarding identified or perceived base access vulnerabilities with recommendations for their mitigation. Reviews the operational status of sensor subsystems ensuring all required testing procedures are followed. Researches, interprets, and analyzes guidelines to ensure all work complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Performs additional related duties as required or directed. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and squadron objectives. 3. Performs administrative office support functions and develops, coordinates, and publishes all SF installation level publications to include the Installation Security Plan, the Installation Security Instruction, and SF annexes to all installation plans. 4. Performs installation security duties. Leads and manages SF programs designed to provide a secure mission environment. Establishes requirements for police services, physical security, and Anti-Terrorism programs. Establishes liaison between SF and civilian law enforcement agencies. 5. Manages police services. Develops and writes localized SF policies and procedures. Manages installation entry control, visitor center operations, and special functions/events. Administers and manages Resource Protection and Crime Prevention programs. 6. Manages Security Forces Management Information System (SFMIS). 7. Performs and enforces the full range of SF duties within the military installation. Apprehend and detain violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turn them over to the Federal or civil police or other law enforcement officers for arrest and posting of collateral. 8.
