About the Position: The Fort Rucker Schools, formerly known as Fort Novosel, are part of the DoDEA Americas Southeast District. This lead position sets the pace for Monitors who perform simple and repetitive lunchroom, recess, and bus monitoring duties in a DoDEA school. This position is covered by the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1815 (BC-1938) bargaining unit.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: Six months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, set the work pace, schedule, and assign work; provide non-physical disciplinary practices sufficient to maintain discipline/order with school age children; enforce safety rules and maintain order to prevent unsafe/dangerous practices in school classrooms, hallways, on playground, and lunchroom. OR Education: One year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) positions within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.
Assemble students in designated areas to maintain order.
Encourage safety by demonstrating basic safety procedures.
Informs the school principal regarding disciplinary problems.
Provide direction in regard to established hallway or lunchroom procedures.
Deal with student misbehavior and discipline issues.
Assist students with proper lunchroom cleanup procedures.
Provides on the job training in accordance with applicable local guidance.
Develops and maintains shift schedules.
